Biography
Urvashi Butalia is an Indian writer and publisher. An activist in the women’s rights movement, she founded India’s first feminist publishing house, Kali for women, and currently runs Zubaan Books. She is the author and editor of several books, including Speaking Peace: Women’s Voices from Kashmir (edited, Zed Books 2002) and The Other Side of Silence: Voices from the Partition of India (Penguin 2000). She has won numerous prizes and awards for her works.
