Hansda Parimal
Biography
Parimal Hansda (born 1986) works as a teacher at Onda High School in Bankura district of West Bengal. He writes in both Santali and Bengali. He has published three collections of poetry: “Dhunwa Otang Og Kana” (Smoke is Drifting Away, 2015) in Santali, “Kobita Tomar Jonnyo” (Poems for You, 2017) in Bengali, and “Hende Gulab Baha” (Black Rose, 2019) in Santali; a short story collection: “Raput Asha” (Broken Hope, 2016) in Santali; and a book of non-fiction: “Hor Hoponak Sariyarh Arang” (The True Voice of the Santals, 2018) in Santali. He was awarded the Panja Award in 2015; and — for his collection of poems, “Dhunwa Otang Og Kana” — he won the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar (Young Writers’ Award) in Santali in 2016.
